Festival of the Five Continents: arrival in the tenth edition
Restarts the traveling event that involves Basilicata, Apulia and Calabria
The Festival of the Five Continents, the traveling exhibition conceived and organized by the cultural association "Il Circo dell'Arte" Venosa, back in the most beautiful and characteristic of Basilicata, Apulia and Calabria, with its traditional performances of street theater and contemporary circus and some interesting new features specially designed to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the event. As in previous editions, the festival's artistic direction was entrusted to Pasquale Cappiello's "Artistic Management", which over time has been able to give the event visibility and prestige increasing.
The tenth edition of the festival will be an opportunity to evolve and embrace new forms of art - from literature to photography, music, contemporary art, al cinema –, but also to confirm itself as a party of the people, of cultures, ideas, that wants to continue to amaze, giving the privilege of discovery and the taste of surprise. Great news, but the goal remains the same as ever: the development of the area, historical centers, monuments. Castles, cloisters, churches, buildings, squares will once again be the setting for a magical and enchanting festival without borders.
This year the festival in its path along the south of Italy will involve 4 province, for a total of 9 municipalities falling within the circuit of the event: Acerenza, Brindisi di Montagna, Castelgrande, Pescopagano, Venosa and Viggiano in Potenza, Isola Capo Rizzuto in the province of Crotone, Acres in the province of Cosenza, Rocchetta Sant'Antonio in the province of Foggia. Each stage will offer viewers young and old artistic performances unique, staged by companies from around the world, but also cultural events such as exhibitions and contemporary art, conferences, book presentations, meetings with authors, reading teatrali, laboratories of writing and reading, concerts of contemporary music, visite guidate, screenings of short films, for a billboard which will also continue over the summer months.
The theme of the festival will, as always multiculturalism, to allow the public to learn about worlds far and near through the encounter with different cultures and peoples, stimulating the viewer to compare with each other and open-mindedness. But the Festival of the Five Continents as each year will also be an event of great tourist value, capable of giving emphasis to the specific cultural characteristics, environmental, art, wine and food of each area, acting as the original vehicle for the promotion and discovery of historic centers, often the only places for history and identity.
