Basilicata Gospel Festival: to the third edition
Sixteen villages Lucan chosen to host the event dedicated to gospel music
It's up in total sixteen common Lucan, until next 5 January, The third edition of Basilicata Gospel Festival, the series of concerts organized by the cultural association "The Circus Art" Venosa, at the start of the 18 December in some of the most beautiful villages of Basilicata. A great event that brings the energy and the best voices of the international gospel music in the beautiful scenery of Lucania, the Basilicata Gospel Festival, under the artistic direction of Pasquale Cappiello, aims to promote the cultural growth of the community and to contribute to the promotion of tourism during the winter period, bringing the joy and spirituality that only gospel music can convey in some important holy places of the territory.
Gospel music, which has its roots in the songs of black slaves employed in the cotton fields of the southern United States, mixes the sounds and African rhythms with the melodies of the songs Protestant clergymen and secular music played in cabarets in the twenties of the twentieth century. The word gospel comes from the words "God" and "Spell" and is translated as "Word of God" or "Gospel". Having established itself in America as religious music, the gospel has spread and consolidated in Europe as a testimony of the typical African-American culture and choral expression of a people who bases his hope of redemption in the Gospel.
The program of this new edition of Basilicata Gospel Festival has twelve dates, sixteen concerts and three gospel groups as international guests. From Georgia, in the United States, comes the quintet of Divinity, that sees the presence within it of great interpreter Marsha Wilson, membro del prestigioso Gospel Music Workshop of America. A formation of true professionals, that record companies have collaborated and participated in tours with important names in the music scene religious African-American. The four powerful voices of Divinity (three female and one male), accompanied by piano, present in their concerts the most famous songs of the gospel tradition. From Britain arrive instead the other two formations: the sextet United Kingdom and the UP Gospel Mass Choir, group founded by Pastor Patrick George and formed by talented artists from the South of England, with a repertoire ranging from traditional gospel to contemporary.
